noisy diff

my rear axle is making a awful loud noice.
i have a quaife diff not done more than a 1000 miles, but the axle is getting hot and it screams when under load, when you come off the accelerator it goes quiet.
could it be bearings?

1000 miles? What is it in and was it new?

Sounds like the preload is all wrong .. it should not do that.

I'd call the person you bought it from ..

stripped it down, front pinion bearing is worn out and collasable spacer is very collasped, was installed by rimmer bros!!!!!!
i shall rebuild it myself cannot do as bad a job as them surely.
