Hi all,
Im usally found on the Porsche forum talking about my 944. But Im thinking of retiring my 1996 Saab 9000 daily driver for a 147. I ride a ducati so am somewhat familiar with the italian quality/reliability image.
I do some basic spanner work myself (including cam belt changes) and do have a specilist up the road called Alfa Aid in Maidenhead.
But in truth Id sooner pay more to maintain something I like than less for something I don't.
Big question is I have a long standing left knee injury and for a daily driver I need the selespeed. What are the issuies with this and what is the worst case problem/cost with this gearbox ?
Also I dont understand the levels of trim u get. Id like leather and air con, is that standard on the top models ?
I have about £5K that seems to get a 2001/2002 model ?

Cheers

There are two basic trim levels at that price range - Turismo and Lusso.
Both are pretty well equipped. As for your specific requuirements the Turismo has manual A/C, the Lusso has automatic dual zone climate control. Leather was an optional extra on the Lusso only.

To confuse things further the Selespeed was only available as a Lusso.

Unfortunately there are a lot of horror stories attached to the Selespeed. When it works it's great. When it doesn't it can be expensive to sort. In your favour though it usually means Selespeed prices are very low, and with a decent independant specialist nearby you should be well looked after.
