Pleasant suprise on petrol prices !
Discussion
Being one that has never been a great monitor of petrol prices today was one of those days when I filled up and had the pleasant suprise of only being stung 35 quid odd I'm sure it hasn't been this low for ages and on closer inspection the pump prices in my local shell are normal unleaded 67.9 & Optimax 71.9. I'm happy for once things seem to be going in the right direction and all on the day when GATSO's went dayglo Oh if only it was summer as well

I just read a cartoon like this in a newspaper yesterday: a guy is filling up at a tank station and says what I wrote

depressing.. Lets face it, our petrol is amongst the cheapest in Europe - Before Tax and then strangely it becomes among the most expensive
that's not so simple: I think petrol companies keep their prices (ie excluding VAT) low only with regards to the level of VAT: if VAT was lower they would increase their prices with no mercy, wouldn't they?
