HORN AND HAZARDS WON'T WORK

I'm hoping to get my 2.8 S1 back on the road this weekend, but can't pass an MOT right now 'cos the horn and hazards won't work. I think they're linked, but not sure where the problem lies. Normal indicators work. Would really appreciate your advice.

Have you checked the fuse ?

Clock and normal indicators are on the same fuse Chris... I think its more likely to be a problem with the switches on the steering column... check for loose wires/connections

Thanks for your replies. Fuses have been checked, they are fine. I will re-check the wiring to the switches. They have been disturbed by me recently so more than likely I have dis-lodged something.

The wiring on my car is a bit of a nightmare. I recently discovered why the pink engine run sensor relay in the fusebox was missing - the wires to it at the back have been chopped off!! There is a note in the history file from a previous owner detailing some re-wiring that had been carried out but I have not managed to make much sense of it. Fun and games ahead, I think.

Hazards, horn and interior light are on the same fuse in my S3. Crappy wiring in the interior light kept screwing the loop up when I first got the car - first job I had to do. Give it a look and see if its the cause.

Doug - thanks for that. As it happens, interior light doesn't work either (didn't seem worth mentioning in my earlier message!), so I reckon you've hit the nail on the nead. I will re-check the fuse, but if that's okay, should I just clean connections and hope that works?

Sacha - if your normal indicators (and clock ? ) are working then you have power from the fuse, the power to the interior light is from the same fuse so you should check to see if you have power at the light. if the bulb is OK and if you have a good earth... thats that out of the way. check you have a supply to the steering column switch - which you should have as you say you have your normal indicators - which comes on the same supply. I still suspect your switch connections or the switch itself...
