I was wondering around the net, and have stumbled into a car name the Radical SR3. So went into their website and read about it, it look very radical.
They say the car is very fast and it does 60s in 3 seconds. The tracksport version starts at 22k pounds which is around 24k dollars in the US.
Does anyone find it affordable and worth buying? Does anyone know if the car comes with a windshield, high enough so it can protect the persons face?

The website is www.radicalmotorsport.com
Also, go to the range portion of their website which is the list of all their current models offer to public. One of their older models can generate over 2 G's on the lateral skid pad and corners.
I assume the new Radical SR3 will generate as much or more. Plus the car look so beautiful... Kind of reminds me of the 2001 Lemans GTP racers... It's just awesome!
As you all know by now, I am deeply intersted in this SR3. The looks and technology used in this car is just amazing. Radical Motorsport has done a great job in their new release.
I just want to inform you Radical SR3 lovers on their latest technology and updates from their previous models embedded onto the SR3.
For a start, it is nine inches wider than the Clubsport and Prosport cars. With its race bred background, the SR3 addresses the endurance car market with items such as bigger brakes, bigger wheel bearings and hubs plus an ingenious new gear drive system to replace the chain drive that's been on every Radical since the outset.
The gear drive system is not only fully enclosed, thus making it much more suitable for road use, but it also incorporates its own reverse gear which was previously achieved by an electric motor drive system. Produced by respected transmission specialists Quaife Engineering, the unit was designed by Nick Walford.
Here are the last 2 pictures that was suppose to show up in my previous posting but never did.
I'll check with them to see when will the SR3 be available in the USA, and also the base price for their low-end tracksport model.
The SR3 with the Powertec 252 HP and 163 lh. feet of torque is called the SuperSport package. That package is made for the tracks only so it won't be road legal.
I agree that this supercar will definitely stomp most of the cars on the tracks, even the fearsome, Ultima's...
With a minimum weight of 450Kg, and 252 HP, the would stop as quick as it moves...
I can't wait until this comes into production. I'm sure I'll get one, tracksport! I want to drive it on the roads... Show it off to the ladies, aha!
I think problem may be ground clearance - you get 10cms on the Tracksport and 4cms on the Supersport.
To be honest, I think even the 150 bhp Tracksport would be quick enough on the road (300+ bhp per tonne), and even with a few sensible options should only be twentysomething grand including the dreaded.
If you want to go quicker, holeshot racing can do big bore kits and other conventional tuning parts for less than the powertec option. I think 1500 quid would set you up nicely with 175-180 bhp.
I can't wait until there's a demonstrator out there!

Hmmm sounds like a bit of a quandry.
What do we reckon then. is it worth going for a tracksport or supersport?(assuming both can be made road legal).
With 252BHP engine it works out at about 550+BHP/ton!!!!
Was going to put down the 5k deposit ASAP, but with xmas coming up Im holding off at mo.
MAD Motorsport have ordered 5!
Looks like it is going to be cracking!!
I live in US so of course I'll be interested in the prices for the US models.
Well, I have contacted Radical Cars in the US, east coast... They have responded and answered all my questions relatedto pricing and so forth.
A basic tracksport 1000cc model which make use of Kawasaki engines cost $32,925 (plus 6% entry and freighting
charges. Its stock engine comes with 150 BHP at the rearwheels. The high-end tracksport 11000cc will cost $35,925 which comes with 180 BHP.
The basic supersport 1300cc model which make use of the Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 standard engine, cost $41,340 plus 6% entry and freighting charges. This package will come with 200 BHP. Lastly, the top-end supersport package cost $45,340 plus 6% entry and freighting charges. This engine is highly tuned to 1.5 liters, 1500 cc producing 252 HP and 163 lb. feet of torque reliably.
These two packages: tracksport and supersport can be use on the road or track despite the specifications listed on their supersport (track only). It was mentioned from the representative that the supersport although could be use for the streets should be swapped with road tires because the standard tires that comes with it are race tires (slicks).
In addition, the car doesn't with roof, heaters, and windshield wiper, although it does come with a wrap around low-drag wind screen. It's not high enough to protect the persons face, so I would see the owner have to put on a helmet. But in the near future, there will be aftermarket parts, assuming a higher windshield that will protect the face, no helmets needed?
Well, these are the new updates for the Radical SR3 in the USA. Oh yeh, the SR3 will be available to the public by May to April. Orders will be taken now for a waiting list...
Attached to this update is a SR3 buck that was display in the US auto show held by Radical Cars in the US.

I was looking through the videos of Radical track races. Coincidentally, I saw an Ultima Sports in the background then quickly moving ahead of the Radical Prosport.
If anyone is interested in the video, it's located at RadicalMotorsport.com. Click on the videos link and the video with the Ultima Sports will be the Brands Hatch race track.
Just to get into the discussion on rather which SR3 a car fanatic should buy. The money in Europe is a big difference in comparison to the US currency. A top of the line supersport for 35k pound in Europe will cost 45k dollars in the US. It would be consider a pricey ride. But compared to similar exotics and sports car, I would go with the top of the line supersport. However, in comparison with the SR3 packages offered by Radical Motorsport, the weight to power ratio gives the upper-hand to the Powertec 252 supersport SR3. There aren't much difference between the style of the tracksport and supersport, so the obvious choice would be the top-end model. Despite the extra cost, we're asking for a difference of 52 HP from the base supersport and a 102 HP difference from the base tracksport.
I'm guessing most of you aren't big on too much HP. But HoleShot has modified an Hayabusa 1300 engine plus turbocharging it to 430 HP and 270 lb. feet of torque reliably, costing 5500 pounds. A possible 504 HP can be generated from the turbo, but could double the cost of the 430 HP. I don't mind 430 HP in a car that weighs under a 1000 lbs, heh... Anyone of you interested in this amount of power in the SR3?
Big question is whether their new drivetrain can take that kind of grunt.
Also, I wouldn't count on a windshield, although I'd personally love one. It would make getting in virtually impossible if it had any rake angle at all, and would add some weight with the necessary wipers/washer fluid/washer motors etc
I think a standard Busa engine is the best option for the road. Holeshot do some decent tuning for it too, but the turbo may fit (needs extra height for the second set of injectors, but this should be okay as behind the driver... however cooling could be a big problem).

I emailed Radical Motorsports and gave them a suggestion for a roof/windshield.
Since the SR3 doesn't come with doors, roof or windshield then why not add in a Jet like bubble top. Make it low drag and the driver can open the door by flipping the front nose of the top upwards like a F1 Jet. That way, the driver can still get in the same way as he or she did before. It won't have to sacrifice the safety cage too.
Here are more pictures of the finished SR3. I think it would look sweeter with a different color scheme, metallic silver or titanium silver?

Besides the color scheme, the R lettering laid on top of the sharp snooped nose of the SR3 should be taken off. It makes the front nose of the car look to flat. With a darker paint, it will bring out the curves and edges of the car. Which makes it more attractive.
