Just finalising the route down, Aye carumba (merde), Rouen looks like a git to get through!

We're coming in from the A28 and heading for the N138 (via the A13).

Best (read shortest) route appears to be through the town center.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Went straight through the middle last year. Easier and quicker than the "1st right after tunnel" route if you are on the old road in the first place. Might be more difficult if you intend to get off the dual carriageway then find the old road. Personally I always get lost going home rather than on the way there ! See you down there. Houx Annexe. Cheers Chaps,

I'm bringing along the iPaq sat nav, but that just comes up with a ridiculous route!!

Looks like the N28 (from the bottom of the A28), then down the D18E. Seems to 'skirt' the town rather than going through the middle.

We're intending to fill up / have a break in Rouen anyway.

Oh, mean't to say we're on the Thursday 12:00 SeaCat from Dover, so if you're travelling then drop me a mail tonight!

Cheers

OK. Now I have the map in front of me. By old road I mean the D928,(on the map its a yellow with a hairpin bend just N of the inner ring road) follow it thru town to the South of the river and that joins onto the N138 which is the one you want down to LM. You do have to follow your nose and those "Touts Direction" signs but it worked for me last year ! All the best. Hope it all goes well. Keep a sense humour and don't overheat the car and all will be OK !

I don't see an N138 leading out off Rouen.. I'm looking at taking the A154/N154 Via Evreux and Dreux, Picking up the A11 at Chartres.

Is anyone going via Paris, either from Rouen or otherwise? It comes up as quickest on Autoroute from Calais.. I think the only reason we went via Rouen last time was that we sailed to Dieppe.

Cool..

So then - should I go thru Rouen then south via Evreux & Chartres etc or the N138 (which I've now found), via Broglie and Gacé to Alencon?

Take the N138 via Gace. Loads of other Brits on their way to Le Mans will be taking that route, which adds to the sense of occasion.

hmm.. was hoping for a low profile route with little traffic (some hope I guess) - I'm not going to be overtaking much either which is a worry - the Primula's loaded to the bloody hilt - yet I'm getting to Calais late so I need to make good time..
