Top coverage as always, thanks Tog & Co. Few questions having viewed the pics though....
The pic of Mats Ericson - with the hoooge new stands in place, doesnt the Pod now look super pro ?
Thepic of the little red rod - really reminded me of Bert Englefields old Ford 32 - where did that go ?
Ricky Gowen - not seen that car before,a nyone know its former history ?
Vens super street bike - really sorry to see such a fast bike kick a rod.The performance from the SSB guys these days is phenominal given the reliabilty normally shown.
Damn, next weekend seems a long time away.

Thanks. I had a lot of fun yesterday. I don't get to use the camera enough these days, but I got on with it OK yesterday and Roger was on his usual good form.Furyous said:

Oh, here we go with the contradictions

Oh hang on, you're not the person who usually tries to contradict my every utterance...you know who you are
Ricky's car was formerly in Comp Eliminator in Sweden but I don't know whose FC it originally was, or whether it was originally an altered but now with an FC body attached.

On his birthday too. His reaction as voiced to Roger was more or less "I'll go home and order another engine".Furyous said:

Stick with us and we'll try to bring it closer.Hornet said:
Don't recall seeing Split Second on the strip before (York?), so does anyone know if this means we'll be seeing more of it over the quarter mile or was it purely testing?
IIRC Split Second was primarily built as a speed record car rather than a dragster. The best I've seen it run on a drag strip is a seven. I'm not saying it hasn't done quicker but that's what I've seen. Julian Webb was making his first passes in the car yesterday. The rules are quite strict about Jet licencing passes, you have to do several runs at varying levels of power without afterburner, and another complete set with afterburner. Julian acquitted himself very well.
Linda Thun Tonseth also gets a big thumbs-up for her performance yesterday. For such a Fuel-leaning forum I'm surprised it's gone unremarked...not even an "I heard about this some time ago". Or maybe no-one scrolled down the photo gallery far enough

Re the build-up plans. We've got a few previews from racers for the news; the webcam will be on-line from tomorrow (Tuesday) lunchtime until close of play on Sunday; Roger will be posting a gallery from Wednesday's Press Day because I will hopefully be busy driving; then from Thursday it's the full reporting service including The Return Of Simon And His Pit Notes
