ok, so I know its illegal to use in france. I have also heard they will destroy the puppy and fine me £1000.

so if i want to use the road angel to travel to the ferry, and it is then stored away in the boot, is it (strictly speaking) illegal to have one in the car at all? If so, I will simply not bother and crawl to the ferry port.

Not worth it shnozz, it's too much money to lose mate. Leave the bugger at home...

I think you will be OK to take the bunny boiler though, I'm not aware of any French laws that prevent her travelling with you...

Can't find it, but I'm sure I read recently that some poor sod was stopped, Le Plod spotted sucker marks on the windscreen and searched the car to find the unit...

At least in respect of scameras eh?

Mail me the postcodes of your house and the ferry terminal if you are worried and I'll check online for any new cameras..

OTOH, might just post some links to whatever I find to help all out..

Camping and entrance tickets with me now, ferry being sorted in about an hour..

My Geodosey cradle is hard wired in to the car, and stuck to the dash top, when over in Franch it will be empty but it may standout as something of interest to the French Plod, have I got another job for Wednesday morning taking it out or should I just shove some post-its in it and call it 'la note pad'

Honestly mate, it's straight off the Mway and there are no scamera's there so you'll be ok mate

I love the sight when entering the ferry port - Off the Mway, round the roundabout, into the ferry port, round the corner .... SPORTS CARS EVERYWHERE, Cobras, TVR's, Caterfields, Ferrari's, DeTomaso's... I just love that sight every year!

Shnozz, no worries mate its like Mungo said.

If however you have to go a different route this link tells you of the locations of all the new cameras

I have paid the extra insurance now mate - need to speak to you re costs of those things. Can you give me a buzz today, or e-mail me.

Cant believe that the velcro is enough to send them looking around the car....besides, nothing to worry about if the RA is at home they will find nothing.

it would be a right pain to have Le Plod emptying your carefully packed car out on to the side of the road though.
You know what they are like, anything to piss you off.

I'm going to leave my Geo at home. Are there any fixed cameras En France or do Le Plod use lasers and hide in the bushes ?

What's the betting I get stopped for the dash-mounted SatNav then?

Anyone know the French for "It's a bloody SatNav unit you French twerp!"

I'm hoping that if it does happen, the fact it's a Garmin unit will get them to understand quicker.

I was stopped this year by "les flicks" the missus pulled the RA out of the glovebox looking for the car docs
They didn't care a jot
So as it dosn't work in France (no database) and will be tucked away in the glovebox If they try and take it from me I will not ler go easy.
