Dent - How to fix
Discussion
I have a nice (!) dent in the edge of the door on my Freelander where the wind caught it and it hit a trailer ...
Anyway, having witnessed the wonder of DentMaster before, I'm wondering if they can fix dents right on the edge like that, or whether they can only perform miracles on dents in the middle of panels?

They should be able to then, so long as the metal hasn't stretched much. I've fixed damage like that before and sometimes as you straighten the edge of the door it creates a slight ripple in the door skin around the point of damage. It's barely noticible on say, a white car but on a dark mettalic it's bad news. Depends how bad the damage is I suppose.
Iv'e just had to fork out for a new door and respray for my defender. Some TW@T kicked it in. left a foot print. no hope of pulling it out. so new door and respray. theres also 2 dents on the wing, but because its alluminium skin they are unsure as to whether they can pull them out!
Cud always phone up the main dealer and ask their advice. But if its Dutton foreshaw at Brock they will tell you to ring Banks and Derbyshire. And all banks will do is fill and respray it so thats a bit. ££££

I used Dentmaster for a 'sharp' dent where the corner of a plank hit bonnet, the dent was right on the crease 'line' (BMW 3 series) and I thought they'd never shift it but it came out perfectly - took the guy about 1-1.5hrs and cost, IIRC, about £60 or £70 (about 6 yrs ago).
Anyway I was happy with the service so would reccomend them.

Thre are dent repair guys who are better at this than others,,I use one reccomended by friends who run a bodyshop. The dent repairers who are hard to get hold of and do a lot of work for the motor trade are the ones to get hold of.Particularly as they are used to doing jobs at trade rates, you do not disapoint them by paying what you consider a bargain.

If it hasn't cracked the paint then they probably can. Has it bent the very edge of the door of is the dent just in from the edge?
I had exactly the same on my Scirocco GT, when the wind caused the door to smash into a wall (had to be pebble dashed, didn't it?) The folded edge was bent inwards by half an inch over a vertical distance of a foot. After unclipping the weather seal, I reshaped the doorskin with a hammer and dolly before apllyiing good old P38 filler and sanding to shape.
The paint was the hardest part (Indium Grey metallic - sort of a gunmetal colour.) I managed an invisible repair with genuine Veedub rattle cans. With that colour, it needed only the lightest of colour coats under the lacquer - the density and angle of the metallic flakes dictate the colour/finish match.
Unless you can devise a means of bending the edge back without damaging the paint, refinishing will be essential.
