Didn't this car do a few races in the early 80's (when the Indestructible Socks TAsmin was about) with a turbo engine?

It did David. I understand it was running very high HP, but failed to finish consistantly. davidy
Will post some "before" photos soon. A little body work to do to clear the carbs and let some air out the back of the engine bay, then the model band and stripe to be added.

The guy at Ferret Photos has some photos of it in Turbo guise if you are interested, may have some others in earlier configurations as well. I expect that Ian B has copies of them (and probably Simon L as well)
Good luck with the project, it will be good to see an M out there fighting it's corner

C'mon John spill the benas, whats Spindley been up to, after all Ian B owns the Yorkshire Ploughing Championship after his off at Pembury in 99, you Yorkshire boys like to experiment 'off road'!!!! (I should say people rather than boys as I'm married to a Yorhshire woman who had trouble keeping 'her' Griffith 500 on the black stuff at times!)
