a honda H22a out of a 92-96 prelude would be an awesome lump to put in there.

If going through the hassle of changing to a different engine then you might as well go for something like a VTEC and the costs are similar and you will get much more power, the other option is an MG metro engine which will drop straight in and shouldn't cost more than a few hundred pounds labour plus £150 for a good engine, will double the power of a 998cc. If you do it yourself it'll be even cheaper.
