I drive a Lotus Elise and I want to get a shorter number plate for the front. Does anyone know if there is a good company whom makes these, pref in Surrey or mailorder. Anyone had one made up and have pics?

Visit these people:

www.gtgrafix.co.uk/

Buy a copy of Motorcycle News and you'll find about a dozen candidates in the classifieds

Just incase you didn't know, it's an easy DIY job, eg;-

Get a normal legal sized one made up, with the new smaller fonts.

Then score the underside all round, with a deep groove. turn it over, and bash with hammer. Breaks along score mark. Tidy up with file/sand paper.

Do not cut closer than 10mm from the lettering, or plod can do you for it.

No letter/numbers may be closer than 10mm, and there is some rule about additional grouping - but the backing is not as important as the font size.

Suggest you try on your old plate first, before doing it to a new one !

I had a plate made up for my MR2 which was the same size actual plate, but the letters were smaller (by quite a bit).

The plate looked great and although it wasn't strictly legal - I had no unwanted attention from the police because I didn't change the spacing or size of the plate itself

Just a thought !

By the way, my local C.A.R (in Camberley) shop did this for me via mail order.
