Le mans 2008 help please !

myself and a dozen of my friends will be heading for le mans next year, its been over 5 years since any of us have been, we need advice on campsites, ferry bookings, tickets etc,
Ideally we want a campsite with fairly civil facilities i,e a toilet that is likely to work for the whole weekend.
Something quite lively would be fine, if there are any other people based in yorkshire who would like to escort us that would be even better.
how risky is it to just arrive and expect to get a ticket and a campsite ?

Best bet is to flick back a few pages and see what folk did for 2007. That'll give you an idea of prices paid, crossings, times, sites etc. You'll also see what folk thought of 2007, what the different sites offered, who offers packages etc.
As for me, I'm booking tickets (camping and entry) through Just Tickets, ferry will be split as we're going on different days, site is Karting Nord, travelling from Sheffield.
ETA - you won't get a campsite if you turn up. BSJ is the only possible place but I head that was sold out this year.

We've got a crowd going down from Wakefield / Leeds areas. We could be stopping with the white Rabbit crowd (if the invite's still open Guy) but if we get too big, may take some space of our own. We'll be getting everything together in the next few months so if you're interested drop me a PM.
Current plan is to travel down Thursday to arrive at teatime and then travel back Monday morning. Open to other suggestions but we're trying to minimise time off work.

ive always camped in maison blanche, been awsome every year.... toilets fine and working even the odd bit of fresh air spray for good mesure and good organised partys/beer fests!! go and find www.drinkingforholland.nl or something like that, will give u a good idea.

If you want to book tickets from the ACO (www.lemans.org), the only campsite you are likely to get at this stage is Beausejour. Not a bad site, was pretty muddy this year but in previous years has been popular. It's potentially worth putting in an order for BSJ now and then if you find something better nearer the time you can sell on your BSJ tickets.
You can often get tickets from the Club Arnage sale and swap board nearer the time but be aware that Maison Blanche is likely to be fully allocated numbered pitches this year and this will make picking up tickets for groups at the last minute pretty well impossible. Bleu Nord was "zoned" this year and may well also be zoned or even allocated next year.
Houx Annexe is allegedly no more for 2008 but there is suggestion that it might get a reprieve.
Otherwise buy from one of the groups, Guy's White Rabbit Racing, or Team Langoustine (search on here) these guys sell tickets at a reasonable price.
If you're really desperate and frankly it's too early to be desperate consider booking through the ticket agencies (Just Tickets etc.) be aware though that these people will usually want to sell you two over priced general admittance tickets per camping pass so you'll pay over the odds for a camping pass and over the odds for two GA tickets per pass - personally it's too much of an expensive game for me to play.
Have fun planning! I'd recommend slapping an order in to the ACO now (you print off last years booking form, tippex out 2007, add 2008 and fax or email it to them) and then at least you've got something...you could ask for Bleu Nord with BSJ as a second choice - you might get lucky and get Bleu. You'll get notification around Christmas of what you've been allocated and then you can decide whether you want to buy the tickets or not.

Of course the invite is still open! You'll not be able to take your own space. The minimum you can get is 000s of square metres! Info on White Rabbit Racing's 2008 arrangements will be published on PH within the next month or so. It's gonna be big! If anyone is interested we are having a breakfast meeting at squires coffee bar ( the new sherburn bikers cafe ) to set our final plans for le mans 2008, even if you have already booked and want to come just to say hello, have a quality full english breakfast and maybe share some info you are quite welcome

See you Saturday. We'll come and have a chat as we have no firm plans yet. We'll see what you've got planned and possibly offer some advice to those who've never been, and if your plans are similar to ours we'll get something sorted. Might be a bit later than 10 though. Got a 9:00 meeting in Ponty.
