Steve Heath had some fuses that lit up when they blew. He was doing complete sets for TVR's at a very good price.

I got together with some other Griffith owners and for £25 bought a load of these fuses from the USA.
Enough for 5 cars so about a fiver per car.

I ordered 4 of these packs http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/42-Smart-Glow-Fuse-...
Although not from this guy because mine were a tad cheaper at $8.99

Thats 4 x $8.99 plus $13.10 shipping - a total of $49.06 or roughly £25 for 168 fuses - 28 each of 5, 10, 15, 20 & 25amp fuses.
The faffing about came in figuring out who wanted what, with there being a mixture of different models and therefore different fuse requirements.

It took a bit of organising so it really depends if you think its worth getting together with a few mates to save a few quid or more convenient to buy a set for your car from the UK.

I should probably add, I thought they were a worthwhile investment because I spent hours, if not days, trying to track down a problem with my speedo and reverse lights which I was convinced was down to a dodgy connector block, only to find it was a fuse ranting

I installed the fuses as soon as I got them and haven't had one blow yet so I can't vouch for their uefulness.
I didn't have any problems with things playing up because I'd taken the fuses out - which I did one at a time.

You could use the fusebox to light up the road instead of the headlamps...

Glad you got a bargain but those prices are not really representitive of normal market prices - just someone clearing some stock with a starting bid of $9.99 - and the seller you've given the link to clearly states that he won't ship outside the US. You were also lucky not to have been stung with import duty/VAT. I recently imported a supercharger pulley and got hit with a £16 duty/handling fee for a $50 part!

When I was doing the research on these products, I was also offered those packs by the manufacturer - but the problem with them is that they don't cover all the fuse values or the mix needed for TVRs. So you can need 2 or more packs to make up the numbers plus additional fuses to cover the values that are not included in these packs. Yes, it is possible to use different fuse values - but that can put the electrics at risk. Too low a value and the fuse can blow prematurely. Too high and it can fail to blow and overload the wiring. If the fuse board needs 3 x 7.5 A fuses, then that is what is included in my packs.

To be honest, I'd rather support someone who bothers to develop/support products for our cars, even if it means a few pounds more.

Probably the same reason I always use my local motor factors shop rather than Halfords..

yes I got a set from Steve at the Rock. There's more in the kit than glow fuses.

Steve,

Although you put my name on the top of your post, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that most of what you said wasn't actually for my benefit because otherwise I'd be more than a little peeved at the condescending tone.

Me too, and I've spent my share with Steve too - A new bible, replacement shock bolt kit .. in fact, everything on his list for a pre-cat except for 100amp fuse (mine doesn't have one), Bonnet Stay (modified my own before his was on the market - see www.thegriffithpages) and Jump Leads of which I already own 3 sets of 'normal' ones.

I really hope its just me who is the 'wrong road aat' tonight or you can all go boil your bleeding heads!
