Lucas stepper logic/wiring

Anyone know which feed does what with the stepper on the Rv8 cars? If, say, it was desired to 'freeze' the thing in its current position, would it be possible to just interrupt one channel (say, an 'earth')? Would this cause any problems with the ECU (is it looking for a load?)

Yep, another bout of 'let's sit at 2.5 k at junctions...' on the way back from the Growl.
