Hello all,
My daughter has is looking to change her car and has fallen head over heels for the 147. The model she is looking at is the 147 1.6 lusso, her finances dictate that she is resricted to cars with roundabout 40->50k on them. What should we be looking for problem wise on a 147 with this sort of mileage. Thanks for any help and advice that can be given.
Andy.

Gear linkages.

If it's a petrol make sure the cambelt has been done. Every 3 years now.

Had a sneaking suspicion about the cambelt. Whats the problem with the gear linkage.

What happens is the gear quadrant seizes up which causes the gearstick to lose its spring loading and hence makes gear selection more difficult, this then puts strain on the linkages and can cause synchro wear if not addressed soon enough. Don't be put off by a good car with a seized quadrant or iffy linkages as its an easy fix, but make sure all gear synchros are good. Also listen from clunks/creaks from front suspension, creaks are worn roll bar, clunks roll bar drop links. Also check that a rear light isn't dimly lit all the time as this is a body computer fault. Otherwise they are great little cars!
