DARE have created a new wide rear body for the G12. It can be fitted to existing DARE G12's without modification.
New photos on the website and a new video.

I know 'you' don't want to - but 'we' all want a road going 12!

Just think how it would cheer up all those on the M25 if they could see this regularly!

Stops people in their tracks.

Take the guy doing the filming here, wonder which car he liked best out of all these Brit classics cool methinks it's the green one!

Very nice to see. So does the wide body facilitate the Duratec - cooling - space - interior space? I might prefer the slightly more taught rear end of the original shape but it could just be the color orange.

G12 looks as pure today as it did in 66. However, still think this car could be 'modernised' if it 'is' for the road: new lighting at rear (Imp lights ok on original classic) and a few other up to date mods.

Good job I've not got enough spare cash - they might not like what I'd do/mod to a road version biggrin.

That exhaust manifold is nearly as good a work of art as the car.

Updating the styling of the G12 wouldnt make any sense..
Would you consider doing that to a G4?!

The G12 is great in styling terms, so to 'modernise' its looks is pointless. Making it more useable for the road is a different matter, e.g winding windows, efficient heater etc...these would all be welcomed

I think that is why there is an all new 'modern' car in the pipeline, and hopefully a retro/period styled G12/16 car too

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I didn't mean 'modernise' the car's lines (bodywork) -
like you, I meant to make it more user friendly on the road (efficient modernising - rear lighting being one) because the feedback I get is 'nothing' should change, it's sacrosanct. As for your idea of winding windows, now that would be modIFYing AND difficult on a 12 door! Going that far you might as well have electric.

As for the G4, no I would not alter anything - except again to make it more user friendly on the road (mainly lighting again).

I remember being hounded/flashed by a ten-ton truck in an horrendous downpour on the M40 in bad light and dreadful road spray (NO fun! I can tell you) - I reckon driver believed (wrongly) I had no lights on... understandably!!!

As for 'you wouldn't update the styling of a G4 would you?'
- well, NO!
But isn't that exactly what's been done with the open long cockpit G4 with the (sorry! it just doesn't look right imo) curved windscreen in place of the flat one.

I ask you, which do you prefer?

Lenghthening the G4 was not a styling update... but a practical one surely.
I agree the curved screen on the convertible doenst look as good, but again this was done so that people could have the look of the hardtop car but also enjoy open air motoring if they wanted to. Neither can really be considered styling updates as the original shape is still all there.

I have the removable hard top version and I just leave the top on because it looks so nice.

Back to topic, the WB 12 in the vid does look orangey but in the stills on the Dare site it is yellow - looks better than I thought.

As in vid it's shown on the 'road' (sounds great too) and running legal road Avons is this a road/trackday 12?

Be a great move imo if it is.

Nothing seems to suggest otherwise.

Is the SVA test the same as the normal MoT test, in that you don't actually have to have a 'cat'? (Although passing the emissions test without one might be tricky)

Doesn't need a cat but if this 'was' a G12 for 'road' track plus, would it get through emissions without one? Doubtful, but Duratec very efficient unit.

Who knows, but one thing is proved, looks fun on country roads. cool
