Nobel on Last nights Drivel
Discussion
For anyone who missed it... a dark blue M12 on was tested on drivel - this time by a pair of media types from London who normally drive a Ferrari 550 and a convertible Porsche; they were impressed but only if it was a second car. Both were impress with the power and handling but do you think the looks are just a little bit , well ; Max Power !
Don't get me wrong - I've drive it and it is superb but some of the detailing is more Nova GTI and kit car than 50K supercar.
At least they did not have puny mamory wamping on about the lack of shopping space or the noise the turbo's make.

The stalks are Ford Focus parts, but I think thats only on the demonstrator at the moment. Cabin was pretty minimalistic, but thats what I'd expect since its not a rep-mobile, its for serious road/track use, and doesn't really have any frills.
But what there was looked OK to me - I wasn't expecting leather and walnut...

Much better build quality than most kitcars, looks better quality than Lotus or TVR for that matter. I would agree some of the styling details are a bit dodgy though ?
As for the Focus stalks, the Mclaren (sp ?) F1 used the stalks from the BMW 5 series. I would imagine it's impractical to develop your own stalks, though surely some like Zertec's replacement Elise stalks would have been a possibility ?
Going to be a shame when Noble has one of his legendary fallings-out with Moy...

Re. stalks and things. Ford use exactly the same stalks (give or take the odd feature like variable intermittent and trip computers) on Focus, Mondeo and Transit so does that make Ford a kit car manufacturer? :-)
Looking at the official TVR gallery, it looks as though Tamora has the same ones as well.
Joking apart, I personally am not in the slightest bit interested in what my stalks and other switches, etc look like as long as they work. However, I am interested to know how many of you out there do mind about stalks, etc. Also, are they more or less important than other sports car attributes like high speed stability, handling, reliability, etc?
Genuinely seeking enlightenment not argument!

PS If you are into interior decor, please allow me to plug Leven Technology ( www.leventechnology.co.uk )who sell pretty conversions for stalks and switches. We are working with them on some for the Census.
