Still not happy

After loads of trouble with my S1 injection, it is now less bad but still not happy. it wont tickover when hot , and wont start easily when hot or rather after about an hour after a run! the exhaust is grey. is it running lean?

Just a little test... Run the engine without the swirl pot cap on and see if it still has the same symptoms. I'm not saying it's this but when my head gasket blew a few years ago it took me ages to pinpoint that it was the head gasket and not something else. What was happening was the head gasket was only letting water in when the water system had got to full pressure. The engine ran fine when first fired up from cold (ie when the water system was not pressurised) but ran very rough after a while (ie when the pressure had built up). Of course it could be a number of other things but the symptoms you describe are similar.

Might be worth posting this on the wedge forum as there are probably several people with knowledge of the 2.8 as fitted to the Tasmin on there.

Im thinking it might want setting up again after all the new bitts have bedded in , so im taking it in later this week, are there any tricks for setting the mixture, do they like to run rich?
