You see, the thing is that people who don't like this kind of music have never really 'heard' it properly.

There is so much going on in a Trance song that isn't easily heard, that a non-keen ear won't pick it up. I swear I hear samples and different background sounds that a lot of people don't hear. My wife included. You know, subtle changes in chord or tempo too.

Some of the best tunes are written and played by modern day composers in my opinion, such as Ferry Corsten and William Orbit. Its just that there are so many people mixing nowadays that they don't get the same recognition.

Just because its easier to do with today's computers generating the sounds, the composers still have to be able to 'do it'.

Brilliant music IMO.

There's an awful lot to choose from, my personal faves, which I'd still rate against current and past:

Paul Oakenfold "Faster Kill Pussycat" (Nat Monday Remix)
Capella "U got 2 Let The Music" (Original)
Solu Music "Fade" (Grant Nelson Big Room Remix)
Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso "Together" - did it ever get a commerical release?
Faithless "Insomnia"
Band Sonara "Guitarra G" (Original)
Subliminal Cuts "La Voie Le Soleil" (Original)

I'd be happy to listen to any/all of the above. For the historians out there we should probably add "Higher State of Consciousness" by Josh Wink and "Release the Pressure" by Leftfield. I also feel we need something by Tiesto and Carl 'three decks' Cox but there's way too much to choose from! By the way I'd be curious to know how old you ravers are out there? I'm 47 and still luvvin' it...

Some nice ones there Don1^^^
A few from when I first started listening around 96’/97’...
DJ Energy – Believer
Scot Project – U (I Got A Feeling)
Chicane – Offshore (orig + Power Circle)
The Space Brothers – Forgiven (97’ orig)
Faithless – Salva Mea
Robert Miles – Fable (Children would have been too predictable!)
BT – Flaming June

I listen to a lot of current trance. Anyone listen to A State of Trance, Trance Around the World etc?

Nice, so do you mean you dj yourself? What sort of stuff are you playing at the moment? And give us a clue who the "known" friends are...or feel free to tell me to mind my own!..just interested smile Creamfields next week, don't think I'll be going but it's only across town from me, could hear the tunes pumping last year!

Let's just say it's from the very top, down.

Yeah, DJ but only for fun. http://www.djschrism-don1.com for some free downloads. Off to Ibiza for some work and play as of tomorrow, so I'll be on the terrace at space, under the ice cannon of Amnesia...

I play mainly house and Trance (prefer Trance, but it's a dying genre, more's the pity).

What about yourself, throw any tunes together? Or just shapes? wink
