There's a thread about comfort in the 'news' bit of gassing, but it mentions the J D Power survey. Has anyone ever filled one in? If so are the questions biased in any way? Otherwise howcome crap cars always win?

Incidentally, since the JDP survey only covers cars at three years old, is it any wonder that those cars still under warranty do better than those whose warranty ran out out two years previously (eg. Ford)

Did one for my Elise when it was 3. From what I remember the questions were a mix of objective and subjective, i.e.
- have you had any problems with the steering/suspension/electrical, and
- how do you rate the car on performance/reliability etc.

To do well a car has to i) not break, and ii) meet owners expectations. You could argue that "crap" car owners are more easily satisfied (happy if it's comfortable, reliable, cheap to service etc).

On the warranty question it's long been Top Gear policy that anything that doesn't come with a 3 year warranty is a bad buy.
