Mine hasn't worked for years either. I believe a relay in the drivers door is to blame, but it cannot be sourced........

If it is and you find out let me know thumbup

Yes - you can reach over and press the plunger on all of them !!!! rofl

Seriously central locking was a option on the 'later cars' as far as I can find out. You could have air conditioning as well but goodness knows where the commpressor was fitted !! - and a/c on a tiv !! All added to the final cost of the car of course. I have seen a list of extras available but cannot remember where - think it is on PH somewhere.

So don't panic if you haven't got it .. you may never have had it - as it were.

(why do I always get the advert)

Mine gave up on Sunday- locked the door from the passenger side, came back later, drivers door unlocked.

Ah. Not very clever.

I alternate between using the driver's side and the passenger side so I'm sure it was working a week ago. I think.

Bit puzzling (to me, at least) because when I use the drivers side lock I no longer get the slight delay and mechanical noise as it does its stuff BUT when I use the passengers side not only do I get "the noise" but unlocking the passenger door will unlock the drivers side- not the other way though.

That is:

Driver's side unlock = nothing on passenger side (no noise)
Driver's side lock = nothing on passenger side (no noise)
Passenger side lock = nothing on driver's side (but usual whirring/mechanical noise)
Passenger side unlock = driver's side unlocks! confused

In respect of the door cards, the bible says (and I quote) "access is actually quite easy." Surely not.

Any ideas welcome.

I think once it dies, it dies. Austec have failed to find the fault in mine on more than one occasion whilst they have had door panels off.

Thanks Stu- shame though. Particularly as I'm a bit of a short-arse and the passenger door is an awfully long way away...

There is a relay, blue I think, (but I'll check tomorrow) that dangles down by the steering column. I seem to remember taking that out, giving it a whack and spraying with WD40 affected a temporary fix on mine..

There's definitely a relay - would half agree it could be blue! I would say it is in the monkeys breakfast in the passenger footwell - on a flying lead??

BUT, I expect that it is probably the lock motors that have seized up.
Would suggest removing them and I think that they may be Saab 900 lock motors which can be opened, freed up and regreased.

If you look where they are mounted, in the bottom of the door skin, they are open to all the damp & muck that accumulates there. Certainly worth trying with a test meter for voltage at the motor terminals and working back.

Good luck, Nick
