Went to one of the biggest classic events on sat, the Silverstone classic.
No ginettas to be seen except a lonely G32 (and my Dare)
Loads of other marques well represented by club members, even marcos and Piper....
I think that more Ginettas need to be seen at these events. The GOC should encourage owners to attend these big classic gatherings.
I was going to park in the public car park, but a steward asked me to park in the classic area nr the circuit near lotus, marcos, etc...
Also, if the annual AGM was at an event like this, at least the public would get a chance to see the cars

Always worth posting it here if you are going somewhere interesting, so we can join up. (Not that I was there however)

I was about to post a notice about my Dare G4 being the only Ginetta there on the Sunday - but you beat me to it. As a club, we certainly do punch below our weight!!

Is anyone going to extol the fact that Ivor and various other members of the Walklet family are still involved with Ginetta fifty years after the inception of the brand. I can't think of any other British manufacturer who can emulate this. Surely, the Club should be promoting this unique position by way of articles etc???

I remember going to a kit car show a few years back (Newark maybe 15 years ago ??), I went in my Davrian and as there was no Davrian display I joined Ginetta who managed to squeeze me in on the end of their stand. Must have been a few dozen easy. Shame how things change, having said that I have owned my Ginetta for 2 years and haven't made any meetings yet, must change that soon.

im not sure what exactly the problem is, but marcos owners and Ren Alpine owners (i know cos i used to be a member of both clubs) get excited about getting together and taking their cars to a show, or to a race meet...
Im not sure i feel this similar enthusiasm with ginetta owners. They do ofcourse tend to participate in motorsport more and maybe this can account for the poor attendance at classic events or shows..
It would be great if more owners went to these events to raise profile and awareness of this great marque. (and also to remind people DARE still make these cars!!). The public would appreciate well organised club displays where they can find out more and interact with owners. Being the only G4 there i felt the car was slightly ignored as it was really on its own and out of place amongst the other organised car clubs,, which is a real shame
--Whether through the GOC or not, organisation needs to be put into getting members to take their cars out to such things...

Without a doubt i would take my ginetta(s) to an event like the silverstone classic or castle combe classic day as its where ginettas belong, the track not a bloody field with a ferrari dino with a VW engine in the boot. i didnt make it to silverstone this year, job took priority but if there was a meeting like that i would go.

Few examples.

saw the clan club at castle combe C&SC day, about 7 of them, having a chat a bbq and then a few of them hitting the track. great stuff

the austin healey club (old man has a 3000) hired prescott for the day along with a couple of other car clubs and you had runs up the track all day and had the paddock to relax and be merry, it was fantastic day.

The club is in the throes of reorganising itself and
'things can only get better'
(jeez, doesn't that song line sound naff now!)

However, I think they will.
Quite a bit is suddenly happening.

Personally, I think the most significant thing to happen in years
will be the G4 racing at Goodwood Revival.
Probably attract more publicity than the 50th at Curborough imo.

If you are going to Goodwood in a G4 you might just get more than a passing look at your car once the ex Hill G4 has raced!
