Missing Vin Plate !
Discussion
Does anyone know if noble moved the plate on any of the 3R's. From all the M12's I've seen the plate is on the chassis rail near the fuel filler under the rear clam. I looked at a car 2003 indigo blue 3R at
today and the car looks good and straight but the plate is not positioned in the normal place. The chassis box section has no holes drilled and does not look as if it has ever had a plate there. The logbook reads R068 at the end so I believe that this is the build number but if anybody out has a car with a number close to this is your plate in a different position.
Matthew.

Matthew, AFAIK all Noble M12/M400 VIN plates are affixed in the place you mention. I know of no alternative location. Where do

Rob, Thanks fo the reply. The salesman there today did not know where the plate was, suggested call back morrow and speak to one of the other guy's. The car seems real straight though and I believe it used to belong to GTO3 RAF from on here but I cannot get hold of him for any history. I had a good look around a lot of the lads cars at the donnington today as I went for a watch and all the plates were on that chassis rail. A bit woried I am !!!.

It is a small mystery! But, as you mentioned there we no drill holes, this in itself suggest a proper car (ie: no plate has been removed - if you see what I mean)AMG Merc said:

Doesn't sound right. I'd get it HPId at a minimum, or tell them you aren't buying it unless they come up with an explanation that checks out.

I agree, I wouldn't touch it with a wooden barge-pole until it checks out 100%.An HPI check should expose any iffy history but only if damage was repaired via insurance claim. Or indeed if it could be a ringer!!!(though doubtful on this type of car).
Also try to compare another at
, look for "unusual" welding and new paint (overspray?) around the rear sub-frame etc.F.C.

THE THING IS THE CHASSIS RAIL AND AROUND IT LOOKS FINE. I HAVE INSPECTED ALL AROUND AND THE PAINT FINISH HAS THAT SAME SORT OF HAZED AND AGED EFFECT AS THE REST OF THE FRAMEWORK. I HAVE WORKED WITH MACHINERY SINCE I LEFT SCHOOL AND THIS DOSESN'T LOOK LIKE ANY REPAIR WORK TO ME. AFTER READING INFORMATION ON
I WOULD NOT OF THOUGHT THAT A COMPANY OF THIS STATURE AND REPUTATION WOULD HAVE A CAR WITH A MAJOR REAR END REBUILD. I'LL CALL THEM LATER AND TRY TO GET SOME ANSWERS.

my car is within a couple of this one :. It's a 2004 car, registered June. The plate is on the top rail by the fuel tank. I'd give Mandy in the factory a call , to see if they have any history on the car. My car had been HPI'd by
before they bought it (which they do to all thier cars) , so I doubt there is a recorded problem.

APPARENTLEY A HAND FULL OF CARS LEFT THE FACTORY WITHOUT VIN PLATES. THE DEALER SELLING THE CAR HAS BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE FACTORY, THE ORIGINAL NOBLE DEALER AND THE NOBLE DEALER WHO SERVICED THE CAR AND THEY ALL AGREE. THERE HAS BEEN SOME RED AND SOME BLUE CARS ETC WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VIN/CHASSIS NUMBERS ARE SOMEWHERE ON THE FLOOR DRIVERS SIDE NEAR THE SEAT RAIL AND ALL THE PENNY DISC STAMPS MATCH OK. THE FACTORY WILL SUPPLY A PLATE FOR THE CAR AS THEY KNOW OF THE HANDFULL WHICH WERE MISSED. I FEEL A LOT BETTER NOW KNOWING THAT THE FACTORY WILL SUPPLY THE PLATE.
