I think it's fair to say that a major reason for us TVR owners buying a tivver is the noise it makes!

As a reward to my (petrolhead) son for working hard preparing for his GCSE's, I took him on a surprise trip today to his 'Mecca', which is Monaco - he's not been there before. We spent an hour or so drinking in Casino Square watching all the super-cars (they out-numbered Fords by 3 to 1). After a while my kid said something which I had to agree with, specifically: "Dad, none of these cars sounds as good as a TVR". Biased though I am, I had to agree with him!

I find it strange that so few (non American) manufacturers have tried to sell by the 'ear gate'. It's interesting that many Fezza and Lambo owners get a Scuderia (or other) exhaust fitted! Why don't the original manufacturers get the 'sound' element sorted before selling the product?

Is it because the Fezza/Lambo owners tend to be rich playboys rather than real car enthusiasts, and it's the latter that really rate the sound? In over 4 years with the Tamora I have never used the CD player because I love the sound, but would a rich playboy appreciate that sound consistently over an 8 hour drive?

Julian

slightly provocative, I know, a little tongue in cheek.........wink

I never have the CD player on because the JP sings a better tune

Ahh. The ringing in my ears.. Fantastic stuff. It means you can't listen to anything else. Perfect.

Do you mean the v8's? Chims + Griffs?

How tvr did it I don't know but they sure did get the best sound possible out of a Rover v8! They get ruined if you put a more open exhaust on them imo.

I've tried getting the same sound out of my capri (it has a rv8 in it) and semi succeded by putting a crossover pipe on them melding the gases of each bank, glorious is the word I'd use!

I don't agree about about lambos and so on not sounding good though.

The sound of a large cc v12 at 8k ripping thru a fast shifting box is quite something!

There are certainly cars out there on a par... if not better IMO.

Burriana's old tubi'd 348 and JeremyC's GT3 - both aural porn.

The Mog Aero with sports pipes is a joy, as are the LM 'Vettes (OK, race cars are cheating slightly)....
