Does anyone know somewhere I can get my discs skimmed whilst on the car as described here http://www.pumabuild.co.uk/skimming.htm

but near Cambridge??

I have just collected the car after having a n/s rear hub replaced and the judder that I've been getting (already replaced all discs and pads) is still there, but has changed from a high frequency wobble all over the car and via the wheel, to a very aggressive judder through the seat and cars body panels.

I think that the hub may have cured the cause but now the disc will be out of true and causing the issue.

It seems fine and strong at 60 mph and less but high speed and heavy braking causes enough judder to pop open the front clam clips!!!! eek

I am away tomorrow from 10am until saturday at about 6pm and need to get this skimmed before then or my Donnington track day is going to be pointless!

Help please!

Castle TVR in Stanstead have a skimming machine. Almost took my 3R there to have them skimmed but was able to get it done closer to me. Giles Cooper is there (ex TVR/Noble Barnet)

Just as an aside, is Noble London still alive?

Greg,

As discussed i have a similar problem with the rear discs/hubs all replaced
very recently by mole valley but from 130mph down to 70mph still feeling quite a judder! No tram lining or deterioration in performance however,it can be a little off putting/uncomfortable .
Gave them a good hammering the other day on track,so don’t think there’s any deposition/ residue from the pads etc.

Going to these chaps in Brum today for a bit of a dabble. They have fixed a couple of Nobles and an Ultima with similar symptoms.
Talking of taking a couple of thousands of an inch off at the most! Anyway will see how we get on!
Will report back, might be part of the answer to your brake/vibration problems..

Jonathan,

Thanks for the trip in the car on Sunday. Fantastic. I don't think you have a problem with the brakes. The car slowed from 120mph rather rapidly on the approach to the start/finish. Most impressive.

Yes the car was breaking fine, however the judder was vibrating the door mirros making them usless as we found when the red radical tried to slip up the inside before we had a chance to get out of the way rolleyes

hi Chris,

that session was good funsmokin however, i was driving around the judder quite a bit, under heavy breaking we were unable to use any of the mirrors,
it was vibrating so badly.

the good news is the car is now 100% sorted.far more composed under higher speed braking, although still bedding in for a while.would recommend to anyone with less than perfect brakes.
spent the last 4 hours with the guys in Brum,
they measured all the disks, including the brand new ones on the rear! front n/s was 9/1000 of an inch run out.front o/s 6/1000 rears both circa 4/1000 run outs.

had the lot skimmed on the car with a very hi tech bit of kit. got the wheel nuts all torque up at 80 ibs as a bit of a guestimate, they had been put on by a well known noble garage(not m valley)with an air gun, all over the place, apparently this can cause run out/uneven disc wear!

just need to change the front pads, must be compatible with the new noble spec rears fitted
very recently. would pagid rs 29 work with standard stuff on the rear?confused
any ideas?
