Finally got around to wiring up the fan today. Did as the instructions told me and wired up the +VE to the starter motor. After switching off, the fan was still on 30 minutes later...
Is this normal? How long will it run for on average after switching off..
Thought it might be better to go ingition controlled...
Another thought - is the fan a useful addition? Or remove it...

You must make it ignition controlled. It'll run for hours and kill the battery because of heat soak in the engine bay. If you use the car on the road then the fan is really worth while. On the track it still helps, but it's low speed work that it really improves.Is this normal? How long will it run for on average after switching off..

You can't just hard wire it to the battery positive at the starter as it will just run and drain the battery. Does it have a temp sensor or relay in the kit?

It has a temp sensor screwed into one end. I thought it a bit odd that it wasn't ignition controlled.
OK, so a simple relay job will do the trick. Any easy places in the engine bay to pick up an ignigtion supply to open the relay???

I found the best place to get 12 volts is from the + side of the starter solenoid (where the + cable connects from the battery). I then mounted the fused relay on the intercooler box (see below). I was a little leary of getting power from the fuel pump wiring, given the fact that it is tied to the ECU and I didn't want to take a chance on messing with the voltage to the fuel pump and potential loss of fuel pressure, etc. The + side of the starter solenoid gives a solid 12 volts direct from the battery with nothing else on the circuit.

The reversing light switch is just in front of the starter motor feed. In the instructions for the FP intercooler it gave the circuit diagram. If not all you need is a standard relay, put the load terminals in the way of the feed from the starter motor to fan, and splice into the gearbox feed circuit for the relay coil terminals.I tie wrapped my relay to one of the pipes in that area to make it all neat and tidy.
