Introducing myself..

Hello to all,

I just thought I would introduce myself, as I have been reading the forum for a while and am learning a lot from it.

I am planning the purchase of an Ultima - probably early next year - my second daughter will be off to University soon, and I will have a bit more time on my hands. I have been competing in hillclimbs for many years, most recently in a Gould GR_37 with Cosworth DFR engine - about 580 HP, which compared to some of the Ultimas I have read about, is a bit tame !!

Having said that, the Gould only weighs 600 kg with the driver. Anyway, I am used to a bit of power, but the main reason (I think) that I am interested in the Ultima is the challenge of building it.

I expect it to take me a year or so, as I will only be able to devote a certain amount of time, but I am not in a hurry. The build sites that I have read, and all the information on this forum has been extremely helpful. I visited the factory a few weeks ago, and was very impressed.

I am hoping to get up to the Open day, but I am not sure yet.

Hi Kelvin you can stop lurking now.
Welcome to the fold.
If you have questions fire away. We may have done them before but I doubt anyone will mind.
You should make every effort to do the open day as there will be many cars to see. Most of them will have some detail or other that is unique and may well be worth stealing for your own build.

I have to agree with Steve, the open day is a must. You'll come away from it with some great ideas for your own car. The more individual your car is the better in my book!
