You cant run the car every now and then Then??
It depends what you wanna use it for, if its to charge a few batteries and get a mini fridge up to strength then if u run your car while using then its ideal, of course it would have to be a mates quiet car.

LAst time, though, we ran the car a lot, for which I felt quite guilting in the middle of a camping area, just for the fumes. Even so we had to get a jump eventually.
Instead, this time, we've opted for 100M of mains cable and a 6A DC power supply for the fridge. The mains can also power a flood lamp (putting tent up at 1am ) and the music box.

£24 from Maplin (admittedly your buggered after dark!).
It shall be powering the 12V cool box, plus various gadgetry that will be accompanying me (ipaq charger, digi camera charger, crimping tonges for the missus etc...)
