from what I remember Rune is not a fan of pedaling unless its to win a race, if you've got to pedal on a qualifier then the time isn't going to get you in the field and it wasn't the final qualifier anyway

hi rebel ,so im not the only drag race fan in spain then ! what your talking about here is basically if you start to strike the tyres(drag racing terminoligy for spinning the rear slicks), if you back off the throttle and then get back on the throttle thats what the term means, and when two cars do it simutainiosly thats where another drag race term comes into play thats then called a pedal fest !

Pedaling can be qute risky in a fuel car,
as the timed amount of fuel increases on the run,
and also the ignition and clutch timing is advanced more.
So, if the driver closes the throttle, two things happen:
The mechanical fuel pumps still run,
and create an even bigger pressure while the fuel valve (combined with throttle butterflies) is closed ,
and this pressure is released very fast when the throttle is opened again,
so a LOT more fuel comes into the engine than calculated in the pits.
This can lead to a big, costly, and risky engine BANG.
Also, when the throttle is opened again, the ignition and clutch timing
is not fitting to the point the dragster has reached on the run,
and the run will not be as good as planned in the pits.
Some drivers pedal every time,
others only when in need for a good qualifying time or a race win,
and others never.
This is what I know from my speaker´s view,
maybe someone from a race team will correct me where nesserarily.
Cheers,
Benni

pedalling i thought was getting on and off the throttle and back on again to alleviate wheelspin....known to grenade fuel motors....
