3R Headlight Conversion

Hi All

Does anyone know where I can get a set of 3R headlights I am sick of people asking me "Is that an Elise?" I have someone who is happy to take his saw to the car and do a professional job on fitting them.

At some point Noble Mods will bring out a light cluster for the 2.5/3.

Broad, any news?

I've been thinking about that as wel. Some owners have changed the clam but that seems a tad drastic and pricey to me.

I'm already planning a conversion on mine based on the 90mm Hella units..

Once done, it will be offered as a kit.

However this can be remedied with a HID Conversion kit (I paid £100 for a Bosch one) and then putting a silica gel pack into the light cover before you seal with good silicone.
Mine has been done for 6 months and no mist ever, plus the lights are so much brighter than standard.

You can just buy all the bits from Noble. Lights from Hella, and as someone said a hid will keepthings bright.
Total cost from noble around £900 plus fittig, around £600...which includes paint etc, so total around £1500.
I have all the bits sitting in my garage at the mo, waiting for fitting.
Graham at Noble mods has had his done already. Bondy, pretty sure Graham isnt going to do a front light kit.

Alex, at that price isn't it worth trying to locate a s/h 3R clam. A new one lists for something like £1800 so a used one could be maybe 1/2 or 2/3 that cost?

When we did the owners meet in the rain, he told me what they had already done. It came across that it's just a bit of time like the elec mirrors.

Noble sell new mouldings to convert single headlamp units to twins? Really?

Shoot me if I'm wrong, but I was once told that all the clams are single and the 3R clam's were cut and a light kit fitted.

Yep and I've got two clams and they are not the same. The rear end where it meets the front wheel rear valance is completely different on each. I've also accurately measured a 3rd clam which was even more different. Simon once told me that apart from the initial hand built cars all the clams came from the same mould but on the evidence I've seen they are not all the same.

Now you know why I love duck tape..................

Yep, they are just the standard 3R pods etc.

As regards a second hand clam, would still need to remove the pods to spray to colour match. The price of a new clam does no include all the bits for the lights either!!

Surly if you cut the clam carefully and accurately enough you can lose the join under the mastic seal??
After all thats what a lot of paint shops do when spraying a front clam.

£900 for 2 headlights ! plus fitting ! maybe i will give that one a miss a just carry a bat for when the next person asks me if its an Elise.

The front Clam on my car now has the full TVR Sagaris lights moulded into it, looks a bit different and no chance of misting!! I also fitted the HID Kit whilst doing it and its made a huge difference!
