Speedo dead

well after weeks of wobbling and giving false readings my speedo is completely dead no speed reading and no odometer at all

is this likely to be the sensor or the unit ,also is it easy to remove the sensor if it is that .

had the same prob with mine, the wires to the sensor were worn just as they went into it. the sensor is on the gearbox on the passenger side. it should just be possible to get to it from the hole in the transmission tunnel although i think mine had a bit of the glass cut out during a previous repair. can be checked but most multi meters wont pick up the pulse it sends. its been a while but i think we used my mates strobe gun to check it as it also picked up voltage?? i would check the wiring first, if it turns out to be the speedo then it can be sent away for repair to somewhere like speedy cables.
