Its making me feel ill

Ok, where do I start with this one. I've noticed several times now when I drive the S3 that I get headaches and feel sick, today being one of those times and I havent even been that far in it.
Just a coincidence do you think or is it gassing me? I dont smell anything odd (I dont think)a small whiff of petrol on the initial start up of the day but thats it.
And no I'm not pregnant or had too much to drink the night before or anything like that before you even go down that route, and my other car doesnt have this effect on me.

Is it happening with the roof up or down?
Could also be that the springs/dampers are a bit harder than you're used to and the ride is making you feel a bit iffy.
Other than that only thing I can think is either a manifold or exhaust leak thats coming in through the fresh air duct.

Both with the top up and down, but I have the windows open when the top is up as I find it stuffy otherwise.
Maybe it is the ride, I never used to get sea sick as I used to have a yacht and sailed for a number of years but I suffered really badly the last time I went on a boat.
Its my age isnt it? You're going to tell me its all down hill from now on

One of the manifolds was leaking from a knackered gasket and I was gassing myself. A new gasket solved it temporarily until I eventually trashed the whole system for a stainless replacement.
Check around the joint between the exhaust manifolds and the head to check that there aren't any leaks. Not saying its the same problem as mine but it seems a likely culprit.

As previously (and DougC's reply) think the main culprit will be either leaky manifold or exhaust joint.
Might be worth popping along to see your friendly mechanic and ask them to have a look.
Although with the engine running you might feel it blowing slightly if you put your hands close to the manifolds etc - but don't forget they get very hot quickly.

If you don't mind looking like a proper pillock (which I don't) knock up a quick bit of kit to listen for leaks. Cut a length of garden hose about 2 feet long and wedge the small end of a small funnel in the end of it. Run the engine and with the funnel to your ear, move the other end of the hose slowly around the joints in the system to find the leak. The hose and funnel make locating the little ticking or hissing noise much more accurately and helps stop the general underbonnet and exhaust noise getting in the way.
Be warned - your neighbours will think you're odd and probably give you a wide berth for a couple of days, should do the trick though....

I have no intentions of putting my hands near or round any manifolds, I'll leave that diagnosis for the PH'er in shining armour that is doing the water pump and hoses for me.
Shouldnt I be smelling something any way if that was the case and wouldnt I always feel ill?
Come to think of it, I need to get the bonnet up to lubricate the bolts on the water pump before surgery commences so I could in fact test that theory of yours. Trust I need to leave it running for a while to get it nice and warm

Not as bad as the time I was listening for a strange knock in the engine somewhere with one end of a long screwdriver on various parts of the block and the other in my ear.. Didn't realise there was an audience..
Most likely its either petrol or exhaust fumes. The hose/funnel thing will probably help if its exhaust, though it'll probably sound more like a tractor and less like a finely tuned sports car in that case..

When I first got my S...long journeys sometimes resulted in a headache....motorway driving especially....after an hour or more i would step from the car feeling somewhat shell shocked. Whilst fumes could be the reason for this I suspect it was just me not being used to the plain raw-rattling nature of this car...the phrase 'milk crate with an engine' springs to mind. I did some stuff ie new shocks and springs which improved the ride...now I suppose I've gotten used to it.
I am going to part ex it soon for a Griff... should be different.

I'm becoming a frequent flyer on here Paul. I heard from another little birdie that you were selling your car.
You all seem pretty harmless, even if I am out numbered greatly. Hopefully will get along to some meetings soon (providing I havent been gased to death in the mean time) and put some faces to names.
