Remember Clarkson's series "Clarkson's Car Years". When he took his old Cossie out for a spin he was on a road called the Buttertubs ?sp? Pass. I think it was in Yorkshire somewhere? Does anyone know where this road is and what its official name is. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

PS Guys if you know of any good roads why not post them in the roads section of the site. Cheers.

The cat and fiddle, Buxton to Macclesfield road. Do it at night, but go roof down and wear a parachute in case you get it wrong!

I think the Buttertubs Pass may be in the Trough of Bowland, which is the area East of the M6, between J32 to J35.

Just beware of tourists parking up near to the top to look at the ButterTubs holes.

If you're in the area, try the Hawes to Ingleton road. After the first hill up out of Hawes, watch the jump halfway down the other side and just before the left hander. After that it's smooth, with a nice line over a bridge, up the to next col. Down the other side is fast with another tight line through a bridge. Then it's a roller coaster to the viaduct at Ribblehead.

Beware of the Hawes-Ingleton road on a Sunday. The "PanClan" congregate at a pub on this road then drive their bloated touring bikes _very slowly_ all over the road...
Owner of Silver 306gti who tried take out the Porker on the Cat&Fiddle on Sunday. The 993 was me. I am NOT AMUSED
The C&F is by far my favourite road, but it has had a very high plod presence lately-worrying helicopter patrols...
