easy question for you drag boys

watching the european drag racing last night on sky and my flat mate asked me a question which i couldnt answer.

as the cars are about to 'go' some guy would nearly always spray a areosol of stuff over the intake of the blower.

what is it and why?

it stumped me and after i admited that i didnt know, the logic of my flat mate was as i clearly didnt know what they where doing, i obviously wasnt really watching the t.v, so could she watch eastenders. damm female logic!

its a de-icer, the throttles can freeze up on alky cars
