This being only my second year at Le Mans and having missed the Parade last year (you don't want the gory details), I wondered if any of you regulars could tell me the best time to get there, how best to get there and back from Houx capmsite and what to do/give a miss when we get there?
It starts at 6 p.m from the main square below the Cathedral and lasts about 1 1/2 hours. Many bars along the route, then go to Place des Republique as the fun carries on long into the night.
Parking can be a nightmare so arrange a taxi.
Best route is along the river.
Don't stay at the camp site and get drunk - that's really sad - might as well stay at home.

Whatever time it says it starts in the Programme add at least half an hour too, if not an hour, and it goes on forever! Personally I feel its a bit over-rated, but thats because of the time the whole thing takes, if it flowed slowly enough for autographs etc but avoiding the 5 or 10 minute breaks between cars it would be great. Having said that bound to be in the town for the Parade!
Don't forget the suncream, a woosy thing I know, but easy to get burnt whilst waiting!
Thanks fellas, staying at the campsite getting rat-faced has been done but it sounds like seeing the parade at least once, is also a must. With lots of places to drink, available well into the night, I might leave the car and take the river route. How far is it? walkable or would a bicycle be better? Failing that the taxi is a good alternative, how much is the fare?
was in the parade last year with basher in his cerby.
was great fun for us as everyone thought we were famous and lots of young french fillies offering us their numbers.
looked well packed though and a lot of waiting around as spectator. still the MG girls were tops last year as were the hawaian tropic tarts!
head down to the main sqaure for about 5 on the friday and all should be revealed.
