Lets Ban Seatbelts!
Discussion
Seatbelts have obviously contributed enormously to road safety; no longer are thousands of motorists dying each year from being hurled through their windscreens.
However, thousands are still dying through reckless driving, dangerous driving, or just being run over by thoughtless motorists. Research has demonstrated (Vital Statistics, 2001) that seatbelts increase drivers' propensity to take risks and therefore contribute to these deaths.
If the law were reversed, making it ILLEGAL to wear seatbelts, the effects might be:
1. Drivers would not hurl themselves through windscreens as they did in pre-seatbelt days as they would feel more vulnerable and therefore drive more carefully.
2. Other road users would not suffer from drivers' increased risk taking.
3. Some willfully criminal lawbreaking drivers will persist in sneakily wearing seatbelts, but would drive even more carefully in an effort to camouflage their immoral self-interest from the sharp eyes of plod.
Time for a change, I say!

Why not ban alcohol because more lives are saved by the breathyliser than there are people on earth.
There are over 6 billion people on this planet, i don't think alcohol kills that many people some how.
As for the post, it isn't alcohol that kills, its the poeple that abuse it.. the rest of us enjoy the drink(s)
IIRC the accident rate actually increased after seatbelts were introduced (hearsay as I am FAR to young to remember this
)
Also we should replace airbags with a large steel spike, and force off-roaders to only be allowed to drive off-road (For the information of any off-roader drivers reading the pavement/your lawn doesn't count as off road)
