Front Brake Hoses S3

Hi Guys me again.

Right, nothings broke so dont panic, just need to pick your brains. I'm replacing all the hoses on the S3 as some are getting towards the end of their life and if I'm getting some done, then might as well do them all. I have got a good price from Act Performance for a full hose kit, AND they also have a water pump available so double bonus there for me.

My question is this, the front brake hoses will require replacing sometime in the near future, but Act think that there are possibly two different types maybe more fitted to the S3s. How do I know which ones I need to order or will they need a pattern or something in order to make some up for me.

Safest way is to have them made from a pattern

Yep get them made up. I ordered a set from TVR Car Parts but the fronts were completely different to what I had. Sent them back with the ones I had removed and they had a set made up to match.

What they said, pattern is the safest way. Bought a set described as S2/S3 with rear drums, which is what I have, they don't fit.

I've seen two different arrangements for the front, a single hose from the chassis through the hub direct to the caliper (like mine) and twin hoses with a solid copper piece in the centre bracketed to the hub.

I picked up a pair of Chimaera front hoses which are the correct length and end fittings for the front for mine, 'though whether the'd fit on anyone elses I wouldn't like to guess.

I reckon the best plan would be to leave it with a garage you trust so they can take the old ones off and make up / get made new ones to match.

I'd place money on the sun shining while its in the garage......

Look, now I know its rained ever since I bought the car but dont go getting cheeky. I've had the top down all afternoon (on the car that is) I even let a friend have a drive in it today, how generous is that! and its even had a bath and polish, just in case any of you lot are at Gaydon on Saturday for PH Meet and comment on the mud sprayed all up it.
