reconditioned transaxle in "new" registration...

advised to pop in here and ask you guys advice on this one...

not an Ultima, but for my own project.

I've just found out from Audi that the gearbox I was hoping to use in a build is not available "brand new" only on exchange basis, with all internals and moving parts having been replaced with new ones. They don't actually manufacture it as brand new any more, and very few of the real "new" boxes are available even if I went for a different one.

any idea how that going to sit with the DVLA, being that the engine will almost certainly be a reconditioned one, hence using my "one" part quota up already?

Or is there some way around this problem that I'm not considering...

Maybe treat the engine and gearbox as one unit. I would certainly get a statement on both the invoices to state 'Remanufactured to As New Condition' I know that's what the DVLA look for on the engine invoice. Plus you might be covered if your kit supplier issues you a Certificate of Newness for all parts supplied. To be honest I think a lot of it depends on the DVLA office you go to and how good they are at going through the receipts, I gave them a huge 4ring binder with every receipt for every last nut and bolt, I guess they gave up around page 6.........

Well they don't make the Porsche G50's anymore and all Ultimas get new plates even though this is the 'prefered' box and they are using a reconditioned 1970's SBC....
