Ultima Racing Teams?
Discussion
My cousin raced one a few years back in the privalige gt championships, got the car to the point that it was leaving everything in its wake..... then his driver (his son!) had an off at castle coombe at 150mph and totalled the car.
.... all the other cars on the track at the time must have had even shorter arms, and even softer chassis... (crap cars like the M F1, 911's, vipers etc)

shame the facts don't stack up with your posts...
the funny bit is that the last one to run in Brit GT was NOT even an Ultima...
read the spec in this advert for it:
'The GT specification chassis incorporates an FIA approved roll cage and boasts additional strengthening, revised suspension pick-up points with inboard springs and dampers, heavy duty uprights'
http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-pa...
then look at this:

now, does that look like the rear chassis of an Ultima?
So, who want's to guess what it actually is?
Oh, and PS. I don't belive it ever actually won a single round....

Actually it looks like an Ultima chassis that has been modified to make it suitable for racing.
Since the Ultima was never intended to be raced, who would want a totally rigid construction such as that for everyday motoring? My GTR dosen't even have the full roll cage, yet is plenty stiff enough to cope with the diabolical roads in the south east!

Of course the Porsche, Ferrari 360/430, Tuscans et al are all exactly like the road cars.
Regardless, a Prosport would wipe the floor with all of them, obviously.
That's why it's such a success and still going. Oh hang on....
Simon (scuffers)
You obviously have a beef with Ultima/Ultima owners with no real grounding. You're not a successful racing driver, you race a Prosoprt and Elise in an amateurish type category, well done, but that's it. Why don't you accept most Ultima owners are happy with what they have? If a Prosport is so bloody good, why don't you campaign it in GT? Surely you could get sponsorship as it's so good?
To be fair, if most Ultima owners wanted to buy a Prosport they could, if they wanted an Elise they could, but they don't. Different tastes, different views. Perhaps one day you'll accept that instead of just firing your typical "LOL" or "you're wrong" or any other crap you come out with which only makes you look a cock.
Hope that helps.

Master Motorsport/Brady Fabrications in Bicester used to race an Ultima in the BGTs. Stephen Brady was the main driver, his Dad used to work for Brabham or maybe March, then started Brady Fabrications when the team folded and took some of the workforce with him. The car looks like a serious piece of kit...I know my racing cars and it looked well-sorted!

do you guys just not get out much or what?

I (along with Ian Stinton) DID enter ProSports in Brit GT last year, we got kicked out because some of the 911 teams all complained we were too fast and it was unfair to enter a ProSport (even though it was within the rules and one had run for the two previous years).
Yes, I am an amateur racer, I do not make a living from driving, that said, I think you will find 99.9% of international licence holders in the UK are the same.
I actually run an engineering consultancy company, we specalise in after-market solutions for track-oriented cars, for example, www.hondaelise.com

Guess who has the chassis jig's for the ProSport chassis? Edited by Scuffers on Wednesday 27th June 08:11
Instead of constant slagging an existing product that the owner base are happy with why don't you use your skills to develope your prosport into a production road car and let that do the taking.....
I still maintain a radical or stealth would outperform a prosport, use that as a comparison (ie another race car) rather than a road car.

Excuse me?I still maintain a radical or stealth would outperform a prosport, use that as a comparison (ie another race car) rather than a road car.
where have I slagged off anybody or anything?
Oh and just for laughs, you might want to take a look at some timesheets...
Britsports, 2005 had Mike Christophers ProSport running alongside Radical SR8's, Jades, etc.
Brands Hatch GP 25th June 2006 he was on pole with a grid of 34 cars, including 5 Radical SR8's, 2 Juno SS3's, 7 Radical SR3's, 4 Jades, 1 Norma, etc etc.
and this was far from a one-off (it was not wet or anything, pole time was 1:24.250)
Oh, and BTW, what exactly do you think a stealth is? (hint, it's based on a ProSPort chassis).
Instead of getting all shirty with me, why can't you actully take your heads out of the sand and take a look around you?

I'm amazed - someone with your apparent people skills can run a consultancy. do you guys just not get out much or what?

It's quite funny you keep saying we need to get our heads out of the sand - despite most of us accepting the limitations of the car. We keep posting that, yet you still ignore it. Is that your normal consultative approach? Ignore what's being said just so you can try and batter everyone with your views? The funny thing is, with your undoubted expertise, I'm sure there are quite a few Ultima owners who may have been interested in the services of your company - until you opened your mouth and ranted on here.
Serious question - as the Prosports are so fast and you maintain they are competitive against Junos, SR8s and the type, wouldn't it be excellent marketing for you and your company to take yours to the 'Ring to beat the Radicals record?
Edited to add:
I've just had a flick through the 2006 results - you said
"I (along with Ian Stinton) DID enter ProSports in Brit GT last year, we got kicked out because some of the 911 teams all complained we were too fast and it was unfair to enter a ProSport".
I could only see 3 listings for Prosports - 2 x DNF and 1 x 17th place - they may be quick but I can't see why the reliable Porsche teams, even if they were slower, would complain with that type of record?

Gotta love the bitching going on here....
In the red corner we have Scuffers who can't stop repeating (justifiably) that the Ultima is unsuitable for racing unless it's modified to be like a Prosport and in the blue corner we have the Ultima owners who seem unwilling to listen to any criticism of their car.
I think that both sides could do with actually listening to each other, as the Ultima is far from the perfect package as standard and a lot of what Scuffers says are valid improvements. On the other hand I think Simon could do with realising that many Ultima owners are never going to push there cars hard enough to justify the significant mods he is suggesting, and that they might actually be happy with their cars as they are!
