OK so we are on a forum dedicated to cars and the love of motoring so it stands to reason that an immense game like Forza 2 carries as much weight as it obviously does on this site. I believe we shall be talking and playing this game for many happy years to come however....

...In the grand scheme of things Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA4) will be bigger, much bigger (in terms of global popularity) when it gets released later this year.

What do you want to see from this new addition to the series? Who will not be buying GTA4 and why? What multiplayer options do you want to see?

For me I would like to see an all out city wide fight. 100 PH members all in one part of the city and can use any weapon/vehicle/tactic to kill the opposition. Last man standing, which would be truly amazing!

If you have not yet seen the trailer click here; http://uk.gamespot.com/video/933037/6168304/grand-...

It will never happen. I can't imagine a server other than LAN that could deal with 100 players.

You'd be lucky to see four on such an open expanse as GTA. If at all.

TDU servers can cope quite well with 6/7 people in the same area, maybe they will implement it in a similar fashion.

Massive death matches flowing across New York would be brilliant! From what I've seen its going to be a huge game and really can't wait for October now.

Yeah I know, but thats just cars on roads, think of all the extra data needed to run cars, roads, people, entering buildings, boats, planes, helicopters. The GTA world in the past has been so vast and extensive I just can't see it being possible yet.

EVE:Online's server has had several thousand people in one system before now, with more jumping in/out... not all of them were peacefully watching the event either (so you've got the backend also tracking drones, shots, etc).

6/7 people your in LAN/internet game territory, call it a nice round 20 max, that way LAN parties are covered. I'd say anything over 20 and you're looking at needed some seriously well coded client/server routines as you're heading in to MMORPG territory. It'd be way cool if GTA4 does go heavy with the on-line component; however I'm hoping they've worked out the kinks in the control/camera systems when doing the PC version as GTA:SA suffered heavily from the 'I can't see sh..' problem.

Not sure about that - I've been playing ARMA on a HUGE map recently with 60 people no problem.

all the vehicles will be on each copy off the game, all it needs to transmit is the location and code of each vehicle

Ah right. That sounds cool. It just doesn't sound like something that I would imagine to be in a GTA from the previous games but I supposed it has to happen one day.

Personally I find glorifying this stuff more worrying.

Sure, I laughed so hard at Jackass2, but it's the sort of thing that kids actually think that they can do without consequence.
A bit different to stealing cars and shooting people.
( Unless said kid is a bit unhinged in the first place. Then there's nothing that'll stop them anyway )

I'm really looking forward to GTA4, but you know what I want?

I want a real game trailer.
I'm fed up with game trailers that are not in-game footage. And by that I mean gameplay footage, not "in-game, cut scene" footage.

You need to check out www.gametrailers.com for loads of in-game videos. God knows if they've got any GTA4 stuff, but they always have stuff of pre-released games and what-not. A good video resource.

You'll need to wait until Thursday evening for the next GTA trailer, there is currently only one which was just a teaser, it's a bit of a tradition for Rockstar, they release a little teaser and then you start to see more and more gameplay footage closer to the release date.

Sounds like they are going to really mix it up in this installment of GTA:
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/grandthefta...

I like the idea of the police zone which you have to evade and I also like the fact that guns are not as accessible but stealing cars could prove complex!

hmmm... its sounding good - i like the idea of more consequences for action... i think it'll lengthen the game somewhat if there are more consquences for violence hehe

This is just looking better and better, I only hope they don't go too serious as that would ruin the feel of the game. Is the lead character Russian? That could mean big running battles in the games between the Russian and Italian mafia!!

I've had my pre-order in with play.com for a while now - went for the "limited edition" pack, which comes with the game in it's own metal safety deposit box, with a GTA keyring and key for the deposit box, a cd of the game music and a gta holdall! £70 however, but I can happily stomach that!!
