Well on the way down we were turning of a roundabout on the way to Rouen when we were met with a little blue Renault in front, which was behind a large truck. Decided to put the hammer down and take both in one sweeping move. Unfortunately the renault had the same idea, except by the time he was ready to pull out, I was already level with him, fiercly gestulating as i went passed him, and the truck I heard a police siren, only to realise he was a copper in an unmarked car. Thankfully Rob had followed me in the TVR, luckly nothing came of it, but it did go through my mind when I heard the siren (here comes a 90 Euro on the spot fine)

I got done 2 years ago for failing to stop at the roundabout at the bottom of Mulsanne on the Monday after the race.
I rolled onto the roundabout like you do in England, took the first exit and down to Indi.
So I reckon I was doing less than 5mph at the time of the offence rolleyes

Beat this one - 0mph. I was pissed and gave the keys to a sober friend to drive me home. The local village copper (in the UK this) with whom I'd been drinking arrested me as I got into the passenger seat on the basis that since it was my car, even though I had no intention of driving, I was still technically in charge and therefore drunk in charge. Had to go to crown court to get it thrown out too.

Let me rephrase slightly.

What's the lowest speed anyone has got pulled / fined for speeding in France on the way to or from the great race?

We got pulled by the customs police 20 mins after leaving Dunkerque and were doing 130kph. Pulled us in, asked us where we were going, then let us on our way?

102kph in a 70kph limit - funny thing was that there hadn't been a 70kph limit for miles and miles before I got tugged - I'm fairly sure I wasn't speeding when they said I was. They had a hidden camera (behind trees I think) and all they spotted was the car not a speeding car, but had decided they needed to top up their coffers by another €90. No evidence was made available to prove I was caught speeding. I thought about contesting the fine in the pouring rain and where that might lead to and eventually decided on a pay and go strategy.

I know how you felt. 2 yrs ago I got pulled a good 2km after driving past some frogplod to be told I was overtaking on double white lines when I went past them. I tried arguing in my schoolboy franglais but eventually gave in, paid up and we went on our way.
I was adamant all weekend there weren't double whites where I'd overtaken though. I'd even followed a tractor for about 2km half an hour earlier while there were double white lines on a fairly dangerous bit of road.
I was proved right on the way home. No double whites for miles furious
