Need some advice/help, I want a data logger for the car, don’t need loads, all I want to record is egt's and that’s it nothing else.

First off, anyone got one? If not do you know of anyone?

Secondly can people recommend me one this basic?

on our first alky dragster we ran a 'revstore' data logger, pretty simple and can do EGT among other things if you wanted to in future, not sure where you'd find one these days though. COuld be worth asking Dave Wilson? he ran one on his Krypton car too

We run a Revstore Compact by Tracecraft on the Camaro. It's never given us much trouble at all to be honest, but I think they are no longer in business. It's a good little unit though, we measure all 8 EGT's, fuel pressure, nitrous fuel pressure, nitrous line pressure, engine rpm, clutch RPM, diff RPM, throttle position and battery voltage.

The guy who we dealt with was Graham Balchin who runs a Super Street bike, but as I said, I think they're out of business.

Next best bet budget-wise is an Edelbrock QwikData. I think Kenny Coleman at EDA has got one on the shelf.

It was Graham along with another guy whose name escapes me who designed, built and marketed the Revstore data logger and software I believe. If you can find him he might have something left which will work.

Luke, If you are considering the Edelbrock QwikData and want to get advice on how user friendly it is, in terms of wiring it up and also using it, let me know.

Graham Balchin is still around and may still be able to help, might be worth putting a call out on 200mph.org as thats where a few of the bike guys hang out .

I had a racepak as well, Dave Beck does them

http://www.davebeckracing.com/

There is also contingency money for the bike guys £50 per win , which soon adds up, dunno if its the same for the cars .

Arguably. Maybe for high-end applications such as Pro Mod, Top Methanol or Top Fuel but data is data. As long as you have a reliable source of acquisition that's user friendly, then what does it matter? Unless of course it's having the brand name that matters.

Racepak's tech support may well be good, but they don't have someone at the track like Tracecraft do. The only problem we have ever had is a communication issue between the logger and laptop, and within 10 minutes we'd tracked down Graham and he sorted it for us. Try doing that with a Racepak.

Both Racepak and Cygnus are no doubt the 2 most superior brands in terms of capability and features, but unless you're going to use them all, what's the point?

id also consider the same system turbo is using on his bike, for about 300 quid its a really good system and the real time data that you can get is really useful. turbo used it when warming up his bike at the main event which meant he could adjust fuel/air settings and instantly se the results....end result new pb et and speed.

Speak to Dave Beck or Neil Midglely in the bike pits and i'm sure they will help with Racepak problems, so you do get support if you know where to go , the V300 Racepak cost me £900 not a lot of money imo, certainly not pro class money.

Turbo is running the Innovate DL-32 logger - http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/dl_32.... You can get them here from Graham Goode, should be around £320 with "trade" discount.

No but this was on a bike anyway , the extra spent on the egt sensors will need to be spent anyhow mine was just accelerometer, batt voltage, lateral g , and two speed sensors

Do you want to log real time for the whole run or just record peak temps?

I would try the Innovative LM1. It can be got second hand these days for around £150 ish. An option for them is rpm inputs and theres a few analogue channels too. the main funtion of the lm1 is for lambda reading so you can run a wideband to check mixtures and log egt's too once downloaded onto your laptop.
