Off to look at a V8 this weekend

Hello everyone,I am off to see the grey V8 at www.davidgeraldtvr.com this weekend priced at £8495,looks a nice car does anyone know it or the garage.
The car has done 72.000 miles with a full service history,is that a lot of miles for that car.
Would be great to get one ready for the festival of speed at goodwood coming up next weekend.

Yes it was at that price when I saw it there earlier this year. There's another thread about it here somewhere- my view was that it seemed a bit steep given what else was on offer at the time, but now... 
V8S's seem a bit of a bargain these days and there seem to be a few about.
My brother bought his Griff from David Gerald and seems pretty happy with how it went.

I went to look at it last weekend, he dropped the price a grand as he has had it a while and wants to shift it.
IMO its still a little steep, the inside isnt the best, there are some "stars" in the body work, wasnt keen on the colours, dash needed work.
But I get the feeling they are keen to sell, they offered me a decent part ex for my s2, so they may be a little more flexible with the price.

If I had the money to spend, I think I'd be looking at this one before deciding.

Went to look at the grey V8S on sunday,i didn't buy it however it could of gone either way.
I liked the car very much and overall the car is very nice but nowhere near mint i think the price for me for that car is on the high side when compared with others that have sold recently so i walked away with out doing a deal.
Can't stop thinking about it though and was hugely impressed with John Chatley at David Gerald not least for the speed he carried into the corners on the test drive and also for being a nice trusting chap,he left my brother in charge of the showroom and workshop with keys left in all the cars.

Think on it a few days - then if you're still not sure ring them and tell them the bits of the car you're not happy with. You have nothing to lose.

Either that or go in low with your offer.
I always think its better to pay a reasonable price and thrash out a deal - that way the dealer is likely to be much more accomodating if you have any onging issues.
Go rock bottom and I reckon they would be a bit less inclined to be helpful - human nature I guess.
I'd go for a full service, full MOT, tax, new wood dash and anything else that might need doing, tyres etc.
What were shocks / springs like ? Did they look old ? Always worth asking... and a suspension geometry check !
You can soon spend some money on these cars - remember its really only costing the dealer the parts cost.
I've got some cracking car deals in the past walking away and thinking on it a while, then speaking to the dealer again.
You'd be amazed what a difference new wood on the dash makes to uplift the interior.

As part of the deal on his Griff my brother got DG to waxoil the chassis. Easy for them given access to lifts etc; slightly more difficult (and messier) if he'd done it himself and also meant he could crack on with enjoying it.What were shocks / springs like ? Agree with the point about not absolutely low-balling with your first offer- it's amazing how far a bit of godwill will get you...

It was agreed that the car would have a service and MOT prior to collection, the dash has had new wood in a nice light walnut style.On inspection on the ramp the chassis/outriggers appeared very clean,forgot to look at the shocks/springs though seemed to handle nicely and the sound it made was addictive,a 350C was also started and that didn't sound anywhere near as nice.
The guy's down at DG's are very friendly - bought my S from them nearly 8 years ago! I've always found them to be upfront and great to deal with.
If you really like the car push for the extra's etc - I'm sure they'll meet you at least half way.
You also have the added bonus of a 3 or 6 month warranty (not sure what they're offering).

I have a starmist blue v8s with 49k on to sell in the near future.it is taxed,tested (new M.O.T.)the car is totally stunning,re trimmed roof and seats, polished O.Z. 8 spokes and its cheaper than 8.5k. car not available as yet e mail me for further details if its any good to you failing that i can part exchange it towards my next vehicle.
