TVR S3c Wiper Arms

Page 130 of the Steve Heath book highlights the problem that I have. I have some new wiper arms (from TVR Car Parts). They are the right shape in plan view but the hinge end is too deep, so the top of the arms near the hinge foul the underside of the bonnet when it is closed.
I have tried filing the holes so they sit on the spindles a few more mm but not enough. Suggestions on what to do next welcome
