If I would start an Ultima build today I think I should have bought this engine. For this price it's just fantastic!

Don't be so negative, the sound from that engine will be well worth the money smile

We did something similar at Cosworth back in 1986/7 when turbocharging was allowed in F1. Ours was a V6 1.5 litre running twin turbos and 4 bar of boost. Result wsa 1000bhp and upto 1200 bhp in qualifying trim. Big BHP but low TORQUE. Not ideal for a road car....

I know a guy who has 4 of them for sale if anyone is crazy enough to try it...

Wow, very interesting. I just love all crazy race engines that was developed in the early days of turbo charging. group C was the high of all motorsports IMHO.

How much would that Cosworth engine cost?

You'd need four to make the torque of a tweeked LS7.

He has 4 (they are called GBA's) 2 are damaged (blocks)and 2 are good, so you could make 2 runners out of them and have a load of spares...He wants about 15k for the lot. If you or anyone else is interested, speak to Joe Stevens at Bluesprint Motorsport on 01621 744881. I would imagine you would have to fabricate some sort of starter assembly on the gearbox, and make an engine/gearbox adaptor, but Jeez what a noise it would make....10,000rpm+ and 4 bar of boost!!!

GTR TT have oyu thought about a champ car engine???? they are 2.6ltr V8s with a single turbo. they run about 16.0-1 comp. and run 4 psi on meth. maybe this could be a starting point for a project engine.

drop comp to 10.0-1 (set of custom pistons)
run E85 (injection system will be able to handle it. has to run methanol normally)
turn the boost up (to get back the drop in compresion)

should make for a good 600-700bhp!

thanks Chris.

I thought they ran 12:1 ?? well the Cosworths do so I was told.

If anyone is seriously interested in buying one, I know someone who has 2 for sale, about £13k for the engine, but you would need an ecu and loom as well (he can supply). PM me for details.

I have thought of every stupid engine in the world wink

That would be a very nice setup. I guess those are hard to find though.

they maybe hard to find, but im sure there must be some kicking about in the US. also just heard that the cossy ones span to over 15K and the toyota ones span to over 17K!!! these reading where tested using sonics as well as the ECU readouts!

by the way i tried looking on racecars direct with no look. is there any other sites you might find them on???

thanks Chris.

For IRL/Champ Car type engines Ryan Falconer Racing Engines www.falconerengines.com  has street modified 2002 IRL engine. 3.5ltr V8 lowered compression but added a supercharger 560bhp@8000rpm421ft.lbs.@5500rpm. Could make an interesting project engine.Weighs 222kg with 6 speed Getrag transmission and 3 plate carbion fibre Tilton clutch.
Not cheap though from memory.

If any of you seriously wants an Indycar engine with all the necessary ECU's looms etc, call Neil at Pride Engines 01299 253496. He can supply N/A or Turbocharged. So thats 600 - 1000 bhp in laymans terms.
