rear speakers help

Hay guys I’m thinking of putting speakers on the rear parcel shelf on my S, is it ok to cut holes in the fiberglass or could that cause structural problems? Has anyone done it and how do they look and sound?

I decided not to cut holes in the bulkhead - instead I built a box that sits on the parcel shelf.
Ran the leads from the back of the stereo under the carpets etc and means it can be plugged in/out and removed when you want - and doesn't leave holes in the back!









I shaped the base of it to fit round the back of the wheel arch to keep it secure.

That looks like a good quality job, well done.
I have 6x9's in the back which leaves the shelf clear for extra bags or cases of wine etc.......

Especially on runs to France !

i really like Woody's idea but i was thinking of cutting holes in the bulkhead for the speakers so ive still got plenty of space for the wife's handbag! Just need to know if its ok to do it? jonny g

Yeah thats what i have & never had a problem, been done for 6 years. never creaks or makes any noises at all.

I would go for it as ive seen plenty with it done.

WARNING - Cut from the boot side though, so you know your avoiding the top of the fuel tank.
