anyone that doubts the accuracy of the Dyno should read this article - its an independant test on the HP of several Dyno's





The Dynojet dyno is commonly used in america and has got the reputation of being 15 - 20 % optimisitic and has given the yanks the reputation of overinflated power - but this is not the make of dyno being used here
You will find that there are some very optimisitic dyno's used over here too !

Not Impressed? We factor a 13% drive train loss which is pretty fair. I wouldn't say we changed EVERY THING but certainly a good deal. We do not change the crank shaft. I have been told by Lee that they broke a few cranks in the mule car but we have not experienced this issue. The short list of upgrades are custom ecu tuning, racing valve springs, titanium retainers (NO head work- the heads flow great on the flow bench already), GT28RS turbines, RRFPR, Motorsports fuel pump, injectors, Aluminum flywheel, aluminum underdrive crank pulley, custom ceramic/kevlar clutch disc and uprated Pres. plate, diff cooler/pump, custom twin 2.5 inch stainless exhaust from turbo to tips, uprated plugs, wire harnes/ecu relocate with switched term 15 fuse buss and power/ground buss in passenger compartment, wide band O2, custom plumbed lines and hoses ALL, liquid ceramic chasis and component coating including all inlet pipes, underside of intake manifold etc, custom air intake relocation to side pods, front mounted oil cooler, tunnel ducting. If you go to the US site you can see a few of the pics. If you're ever in the states we can arrange a ride for you- just bring your dramamine

That's right. I believe with the Motec and GT28RS units at 1.8 Bars of boost Dereks car is somewhere around 640WHP. We figure the engine BHP figures loose about 13% by the time the power is transmitted to the ground. An all wheel drive car or front engine, rear differential 2 wheel drive car can loose from 15 to 20%the car is not quite in the 700 hp bracket but its definately getting there
the turbo's used here will provide 720 bhp at full boost
Not doubting your figures, but don't these guys have one of your dynos too, and boy are these torque figures dodgey!

Can't speak for them. I can say though that there are 5 dynos here within 20 minutes of each other and we have tested on all of them, with power output being within 3percent for 4 ( A Dyno dynamics, 2 dyno jets and a Clayton- the 5th unit is one of those hub dyno units and it is junk and shakes the devil out of any car mounted to it!) http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

As far as track work, this car has just been completed and has not been on the track yet however i CAN tell you that this is not the first on to produce this kind of power and yes we have put MANY track hours on this basic setup with 0 issues. Rich Drabs' car was completed recently at 550 whp and we have 5 track hours on the car and no problems. In fact we are turning lap times faster at Road America on DOT R's than many grand am or ALMS cars.

(the discussion in the other thread you posted was reffering to a MAHA dyno in germany - totally different machine)Dan - the torque is calculated back from the Engine Rpm and the power it made, as along as the operator got a good signal it can't be wrong !

With an efficient CC or IC the power output should be maintained.Heat will be the main area of concern. Seth and others have experience in this area so some of the problems will be avoided.
Remaining issues can be ironed out in testing by data logging and anaylsing the failures. In this respect it's no different to any other car.
So well done, it looks very very good.
