This is a very interesting development as I am looking at a track only vehicle and feel this to be cheap reliable and above all QUITE power. Obviously LS7 is the buz at the moment but as my new project will weigh less than a ton, LS3 is looking good, and more so if it comes in at a throw away price

Well it was amusing if it wasn't totally accurate 
Suppose the series started out all aluminium and has had iron variants added for various reasons (the recent iron LSX block being an alternative to the C5R for boosted strip applications?)
