Well, here's a pic of mine after 3,000 miles over 5 days sat in the passenger seat - in charge of logistics and Pringle dispensing.
I think she liked it.
Actually it can be hell of a drain. She has just reminded me that I spent 6 months building it, straight into the garage afterwork every night to midnight and all weekend. If you gonna do it, I'd recommend striking a good balance. I didn't, but just got away with it.

My wife and I have been married for 20 years. I own an Renault R5 Turbo. As far as my Renault buddies go they fiqure she is the best co-driver they have ever seen, the girl reads her horse books while I'm going as fast as I can up the Pacific Coast highway to the Monteray Historics. One year when I was LEAVING a buddy in his NSX she looked up and asked if she should start ready the rally pace notes.
When we went to the factory Ted gave me the infamous "E TICKET RIDE". As we were pulling back into the factory he said "now there's only one question", ( I thought the question would be if I had the funds to go forward) anyway Ted asks " do I give your wife the "A" ride or the "E" ride. I told him to "go for it", she's a great passenger. When the two of them returned her eyes were as big as cue balls. The only thing she could mutter was "those are some F..... BRAKES. We got into the rental and she didn't say a thing for about 20 minutes, finally she said "you need one of those". Trust me, if your other half likes cars she will love the Ultima. Lee

I guess so long as you strike a balance between the car and the missus / kids then you should get support from the family. Most of my build hours were between 4am to 8am or 8pm till midnight. How do you get out of bed at 4am I hear you say ? Well once the kit arrives it literally pulls you out of bed and into the garage !
Despite the early moans and groans from the missus (where will you find the time / money etc) she became more interested / supportive as time passed. Now she can't wait for a blast in it. I suspect even the most anti-car female would kill to be seen in a finished Ultima. My list of passenger rides is growing all the time and most of them are the wife's friends
Get that kit ordered !

damn you guys are lucky I have only just got my gf into cars and she is more than happy to come to meets/shows with me (currently got a Supra TT). Although I think the ultima would scare her too much to want to go in it as she isnt a very good passanger and has a limit of around 100+. However we are young (23) so she may have more confidence once its finished and may very well be able to drive it (she currently hasnt started driving lessons)
On an alternative slant, my wife has no interest in cars at all. Over time this has caused some angst but after 22+ years we have reached a steady state of appreciation = We are both into different things but that does not stop us from enjoying one another's company in between time. I don't think that I would like her to be involved with 'car based interests' now in any case. It works for us.
